Duration: 3-years contract with possibility of extension
1. Background
Gamswitch Ltd. Under the directive of the Central Bank of the Gambia in partnership with Institute of Inclusive Digital Africa (IIDIA) is undertaking a national implementation of the Mojaloop real-time payment system to enhance financial inclusion and interconnectivity across financial institutions. Given the current frailty of our network infrastructure—hiring dedicated Network System Administrators is critical. This role will be instrumental in upgrading our infrastructure to industry standards and ensuring its continued stability, security, and scalability.
2. Objective of the Assignment
To provide expert-level support in network system administration, ensuring high availability, security, performance optimization, regulatory compliance, integration support, and business continuity for the Mojaloop infrastructure.
3. Scope of Work
- Upgrade and maintain network infrastructure to ensure 24/7 availability.
- Implement firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and encryption protocols to secure network traffic.
- Optimize network bandwidth and configure resources for scalability.
- Enforce network security policies and ensure compliance with local and international standards (e.g., GDPR, PSD2).
- Manage API gateways, VPN configurations, and secure data tunnels to support system integration.
- Design and implement redundant network paths and failover mechanisms for disaster recovery and business continuity.
4. Deliverables
- A fully upgraded and functional network infrastructure aligned with industry standards.
- Comprehensive documentation for all network and database configurations and procedures.
- Monthly reports detailing system performance, security incidents, and mitigation measures.
5. Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in network administration.
- Proven expertise in firewalls, IDS, VPNs, and network optimization.
- Strong understanding of financial systems integration and regulatory compliance.
6. Reporting
The role holder will report directly to the Programm Lead at Gambia Interoperability Switch program and will work closely with the Gamswitch team.
7. Duration and Remuneration
- Contract duration: 36 Months
- Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience
