Position : Knowledge Management and Communication Specialist (M/F) – Remote work

Organization : Institute for Inclusive Digital Africa ( IIDiA )

Location : Remote, at home

Duration : 6 months, renewable.

The Institute for Inclusive Digital Africa ( IIDiA ) is a pioneering organization dedicated to promoting inclusive digital growth on the African continent. By mobilizing digital solutions, IIDiA aims to boost socio-economic development and bridge the digital divide in Africa.

Emerging and future digital technologies are one of the most powerful drivers of transformation globally today. Recognizing that these technologies, particularly digital public infrastructure, offer both major opportunities to accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and new development challenges, IIDiA is working to build an Africa where digital access truly benefits people and families, leaving no one behind.

Positioning

  • Supervision : Communications Manager.
  • Collaboration : Project Managers, partners, media, service providers (content manager, public relations officer, web developer).
  • Type of contract : Fixed-term contract/consultancy for 6 months, renewable depending on performance.
  • Location : 100% remote work, flexible hours (weekly synchronization).

Purpose of the position

IIDiA ‘s communication strategy and structure knowledge management (KM) to capitalize on results, amplify impact and serve stakeholders (communities, donors, governments, tech ecosystem).

Key Responsibilities

1) Communication (approx. 60%)

  • Co-develop and execute the communication strategy (institutional, projects, advocacy), quarterly editorial plan and social media calendar.
  • Produce and edit premium content (reports, briefs, columns, articles, success stories, infographics, presentations).
  • Simplify technical analyses into clear supports (texts, bar/sector charts, diagrams, paths) and integrate text + visuals.
  • Ensure media coverage of events (press releases, media kit, live- posting ) and strengthen the media network.
  • Optimize the website (news, project pages) and newsletters (bimonthly), in collaboration with the content manager
  • Guarantee brand identity (charter, templates, multi-channel consistency).
  • Support project teams (reviews/creation of presentations, briefing notes, key messages).

2) Knowledge Management – KM (approx. 40%)

  • Design and operate a KM program (framework, governance, roles, flows).
  • Set up a digital resource center (e.g. Notion/SharePoint): lessons learned, guides, toolboxes, templates, glossary.
  • Structure capitalization ( After Action Reviews , case studies, good practice notes) and disseminate to stakeholders.
  • Integrate KM into the annual planning/budget cycle (needs, activities, deliverables).
  • Produce post-event reports for partners and donors.

Key success indicators (KPIs)

  • Strategy & editorial plan validated ≤ 30 days ; quarterly review.
  • 1 newsletter/2 months ; ≥ 20% opening rate; subscriber growth ≥ 10%/quarter .
  • 2 success stories/quarter published (FR/EN); 1 case study/semester .
  • Website: +25% organic traffic in 6 months; project pages updated within 10 working days after key milestones.
  • KM: operational resource center ≤ 60 days ; 100% of projects with AAR at the end of the phase; ≥ 80% internal satisfaction (semi-annual survey).
  • Media: 4 press/trim mentions. minimum; 1 op- ed /semester .

Desired profile

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Degree in Communication/Journalism, International Relations, Development Policy or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience (NGO/IO, think tank, tech for good, firm, agency).
  • Portfolio demonstrating: articles/reports, impact storytelling, infographics/presentations.
  • Proven experience in KM (frameworks, AAR, knowledge bases, capitalization).
  • Knowledge of SDGs , digital inclusion , DPI , and/or digital governance (asset).

Technical skills

  • Excellent writing skills in FR & EN (writing, editing, headlines).
  • Tools: MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint), Canva /Adobe , CMS (WordPress or equivalent), analytics tools ( GA4 , native social), newsletters ( Mailchimp / Brevo ), document management (SharePoint/Notion).
  • Basic data visualization (clean, readable graphics).
  • Notions of SEO/editorial referencing (asset).

Behavioral skills

  • Initiative, autonomy , sense of priorities, respect for deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in a multicultural environment.
  • Results and quality orientation , intellectual curiosity, integrity.

Working conditions
